IFAS upgrade with the MUTAG BioChip™

MUTAG provided crucial support in the design and implementation of the Integrated Fixed Film Activated Sludge (IFAS) process at the "Oberes Surbtal" biological sewage treatment plant in Switzerland during the retrofitting project in 2012 and 2013. This included supplying the MUTAG BioChip™ carrier media, a key component of the process.

The plant, designed to handle a hydraulic flow rate of 650 m3/h or 15,600 m3/d, serves approximately 20,750 population equivalents (PE). Despite its significant capacity, the plant has operated smoothly since its retrofitting.

Thanks to the incorporation of MUTAG's IFAS technology and BioChip carriers, the plant consistently meets discharge quality standards. It has functioned without any issues or defaults, ensuring efficient sewage treatment without compromise. This successful collaboration underscores the reliability and effectiveness of MUTAG's solutions in wastewater treatment.
